Will AI in education help students live fulfilling lives?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is often celebrated as a pivotal force in transforming education, but the critical question remains: Will it genuinely support students in achieving a comprehensive sense of fulfillment in their lives? While proponents of AI in education highlight its potential to personalise learning and enhance life quality by promoting happiness, meaning, and purpose, skeptics raise concerns about its overuse potentially stunting cognitive development.
This webinar explored the fundamental issues surrounding the current objectives of education and its alignment with the concept of human flourishing in the age of AI. We discussed how educational paradigms can evolve to better support all aspects of human flourishing and critically examine whether AI can enhance or hinder this process.
Speakers included:
Andreas Schleicher, OECD Director for Education and Skills
Anita Lehikoinen, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, Finland
Chern Wei Sng, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of Education, Singapore (Video)
Melanie Stewart, Associate Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education and Child Care, British Columbia (Video)
Moderated by Michael Stevenson, Senior Consultant and founder of the High Performing Systems for Tomorrow initiative.

Algorithms that are based on stereotypes of Black Americans create negative images for children and young adults in Black communities. Stereotypes like The Coon where the individual loves other races other than his own. Or Sapphire black women are seen as loud and argumentative. Sambo black men are dumb and lazy. Algorithms determine who sees what content is posted and how information goes viral. However, it is known that people are controlled by what they see, hear, and read. Social media companies rarely hire black programmers who can influence algorithms that positively shape black culture.
hello
Absolutely amazing and very informative 👏 👍 wish I was a teacher in Finland. Would have thoroughly enjoyed teaching the kids and learning more 👍 😀
Australia doesn't even rate when compared to Finland.
This makes me wish I was born in Finland not in some shithole asian country
Hi
Amazing
Thank you, I am very happy to see this documentary video
I enjoy it here in Finland
Let's face it, you have to take a class for this.
I think Europe and the world need to re evaluate the teaching methodology for young students. A young student will either enjoy or not enjoy learning at a very young stage. It is up to the teachers to teach the subject and make it fun / interesting for the young students. Interesting video 😉 Greetings from Germany...🍺🖐🇩🇪
Putting our kids in so much debt in America is disgraceful we should put it on the Internet only and get the degrees
This is just amazing.
This is a country of people that respect each other, look at the children, look at the calm interactions between children and teachers...In noisy western open layout classrooms you can see clutter i in the classroom, tables everywhere, walls glued up with posters and signage, its just overwhelming for everyone, kids and teachers...
with special education they dont always get it right...I came from US Finnish Kids but as I am black they assumed my kids needed special needs I was surprised when they noticed the dad was Finnish, they apologised. But they thought I was a poor refugee so they treated my kids as having special need
Nice to see this documentary. Unfortunately from where I'm from (India 🇮🇳) - education is a business. Private schools, private tuitions, private coaching are the norm. - class sizes are high: ~45 in high schools, ~100-500 in coaching classes, and ~100 in colleges - teachers are mostly mediocre. People get into this field when there are no options left. - curriculum is outdated. - competition and stress is extremely high and toxic.
Thanks for sharing that! Unfortunately, we share the same (or even worse) moments of disparity in Pakistan.
Much like Australia. There is big money to make if you want to promise parents high marks

Can we talk about how in portugal me and my friends learned to cartwheel in year 2 and most of my british friends cant do it, also that i spent year 4 and year 5 learning about stuff i already knew from portugal. Also my handwriting from the end of year 1 is still way better than the handwriting of most people i know

Bro is this a good school cuz im coming there next week and my cousin said that theres fight there everyday
its fucken high school mate theres fights everyday that and you're literally going to dandy so expect to get addicted to mdma and edibles
@@trampoleen8750 Not just that mate. There's people fuckin shooting up black tar heroin in their asses in the toilets, and not to mention the very common STDs. If one person gets an STD, its likely that everyone has it in the school, including the teachers. I know that sounds fucked, but its mainly Bethany's fault for having sex with the 80 year old textiles teacher in order to get an A on her report.
Australia show broken down with China relationships
Fan Richard, they will regret later on. (Just my opinion don’t take it too seriously.)

They make my school look so good but its so bad you see a fight everyday xdd
H 7even5ive what’s wrong with you I’m Australian I think you’re Brendan with your fucking idiot Brandan means brain-damaged you fucking idiot wanker

There is potential but the government can’t seem or doesn’t want to put education a priority. I hope that the new government that’s coming in makes an extensive cleaning and get rid of all the garbage (the drug cartel, the gangs, the disgusting people within the government etc.) that’s preventing Mexico to succeed. Mexico is a beautiful country and have beautiful people who want change and needs change
👀
A OCDE é comunista!
May My beloved Portugal have more educational reforms so the Children of Portugal will one day become great & famous people who will take this beautiful Country to greater heights worldwide in every field🎓🔭🔬📡🖱.God bless Portuguese People-❤from Titus Dias,Goa (Former Portugal Territory).
Updated 2018: Now Portugal performs ABOVE the OECD average in PISA, including in Maths and reading, also above close european countries.
True. Socionomic hintergrund is the main factor of getting education.
Does someone know the name of the calm music at the beginning ?
I love the line "Education seen as a means to build a nation."
